Posted By Col on Sunday, April 20, 2003 Dear oh dear, this isn't going well at the moment. So last week I put on 2 pounds, that was pretty bad but then again had gone out for a few meals so it was understandable. This week started with good intentions, was pretty healthy on the Wednesday and Thursday had the day off, excellent. We decided to go for a bike-ride and burn off a few calories, that was until we ended up in the Queens Head for lunch with Nic & Andy. The worse bit was as we were stuffing ourselves on Brown Soup and Roast Beef Sandwiches our Weight-Watchers teacher Julie turns up (apparently for a diet coke, no thinks not somehow!!!). So we were good the rest of the day, in fact the lunch wasn't too bad I don't think!!!Then the weekend, Ireland. This is NOT the place to go if your on a diet, lots of Drinking. The first day though was alright, they don't serve booze anywhere on Good Friday, a bonus from the WW perspective anyway. We did make up for it as we were guests in a hotel and was allowed wine with the meal (and @ £20 a bottle we polished off 5 easily having stayed t-total all day). Things then went from bad to worse so I am not going to comment. One plus this week though, Cambridge are at home Tuesday so I can be good all week and Julie our teacher may not notice. Posted By Col on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 Well, the miracle diet I thought I had found last week was short lived, 5 meals out in one week were 4 too may me thinks, I recon you could get away with one but ho hum. This means that now over the 2 weeks it has been 2.5lb, not what I was after but to be expected, there was no way anything was going to come off with 5 30+ point meals! So whats the target for the next week, I am going to at least get my Silver 7 in the next fortnight, going to try really hard to get it next week, thats 4.5lbs over Easter and a weekend away, chances of sucess are slim. Tonight not going to well though, Julie has brought Duck legs for Duck with Hoi Sin & pancakes, they are 7 points each but after that its going to be healthy Col! Posted By Col on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 So tonight is weigh-in time again, quite worried tonight, last week I did say I was going to go for the "Silver 7", if by some amazing fluke I do manage to get it this week then I will be very surprised. So far this week have been 2 Chinese meals out, an Indian out, pub lunch "sausage, egg, chips & beans + 3 pints" and a thai green chicken curry last night. The rest of the time though has been pretty good, not had any puddings or chocolate bars (except go-ahead ones) so will be interesting. How is it going to go, find out later ..... Posted By Col on Friday, April 11, 2003 Just gone 4:00pm, cakes were @ 3:00pm but didn't go!Posted By Col on Wednesday, April 09, 2003 So today was the day, I broke my good routine out of peer pressure. Chatting with Nigel at work (who has also started the diet now) he was talking so much about a Chinese that I buckled under the pressure, we had a winners. Is it a good think or bad thing? Well this is something that you do for life, changing your eating habits long term for a more healthy life, with that fact it makes you think "will I ever eat a number 17 & 40 again?"..... well we did. We were both good today, all I had before that was a Tuna & Red Onion sandwich (very nice and only 8 points). I had banked 4 points from yesterday so it turns out to be 30 points available for it, will work it out tomorrow and let you know how many were in it....Except for that it so far seems to be cool, still aiming for my silver '7' by week 2, that will mean I need to be a little better, the way I look at it on the days I am bad I am not that bad, I normally would have been worse and no doubt not give a shit about what was going on. So having justified my meal I can now go to bed not feeling so bad :-) Posted By Col on Tuesday, April 08, 2003 Well, I think I have found a diet to beat Atkins, all of the Drink, Curry & Ice Cream and ......... I LOST 4LB!!!! Fantastic. Only problem is Julie is not too chuffed as she was very good and managed to stay the same, will have to give her some pointers I think, maybe a big Winners meal this week will help me to loose a few more pounds :-)Am going to aim to loose 3 next week to get my silver '7' after just 2 weeks, should I try for a stone by the end of a month, well lets see how it goes. Posted By Col on Tuesday, April 08, 2003 Weigh in tonight.... more detials posted straight after the event. This is have done very well except for the stag do, but that was to be expected. Never felt hungry this week, goes to prove if you are eating the right things then you can eat the amount of them you want. Haven't really missed anything this week either, if I felt like some treats then we have Weightwatcher snacks, smaller than the normal chocolate bar which is why they are healthy but just enough to satisfy the urge. Will that miracle diet of lots of booze and curry come true, find out later...... Posted By Col on Sunday, April 06, 2003 Well..... Stag weekends, not a real paradise for dieters. I asked Julie, my Weight Watchers teacher for some advice before leaving for the event, her words of advice were along the lines of "don’t worry about it till the Monday", so just got home and had lots of ice cream!!!!It was an excellent weekend, I managed to count the drinks as they went down but then after the first 10 or so couldn't really remember the number of them. Friday was quite healthy, weetabix for breakfast then bottle of water for lunch so was good until 4:00pm Friday at least. Friday night, curry, could have been OK but 2 Poppadoms + Chutney (5 points), Chicken Chiat (4.5 points), Pilau Rice (12 points), Onion Baji (6 points), Paeshwari Naan (11), Chicken Something (about 22 points) and 2 pints of Stella (5) meant that 65.5 points was almost 2 days allowance gone within 1 day. The recommended Weight Watchers choice was a total of 13 points, should have taken the little book with me. Saturday went just as badly, food wise was OK, after lots of drinking on Friday which I cant count as I don't know the points I couldn't manage the Full English the next morning, that was a bonus. TGI's for dinner was a good choice, a 15 point meal and again can’t remember how much I had to drink so that doesn’t count :-). At the dogs there was "Pie and Peas", that was 13.5 points gone, again didn't count the drink as I couldn't remember how much we had. Sunday morning and no hangover, that must have meant that I didn't drink that many points then, things were looking up, but then again as no hangover was there it did mean the "Full English" came out, 2 sausages (7 points), 2 bacon (3.5 points), beans(2.5 points) , 2 hash browns (4 points), 2 slices of toast with butter (5 points) and a fried egg (2.5 points) so 26.5 points gone for the day before 10:00am, DOH!!!! Julie reminded me that she lost 4 pound last week, I wonder how much I "would" have lost had I stuck to the plan, probably all of my mates for being a girl and not drinking. If by some amazing chance I do manage to lose weight this week then does it hold out hope for us men, have I found some wonder "if you can't remember what you drunk it doesn't count" points plan .... Posted By Col on Thursday, April 03, 2003 Had breakfast this morning, normally never do.... then missed lunch, again normally never do.Didn't get a takeaway on the way home last night, did get stuck in a traffice jam though, they closed the M11 motorway and brought everything off at our junction. Drove my car into a wall this morning, not very good idea, made a lovely big gouge in the bumper, nice .... Off on a stag weekend tomorrow so will no doubt make up for missing lunch today with some beer. Must go home now though and eat, feeling hungry. Posted By Col on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 So I was doing well, then thought of getting a takeaway on way home ..... mmmmmmm ...... winners!Posted By Col on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 Well first real day on the diet, so far today it has been fine, got a little ribbing from some people about it but I don't mind too much as I know they would all benifit from coming with me. Nigel again checked out the site, going to see if I can get him the eSource details so he can sign up for the on-line stuff as well, another techie, this is the way to go for blokes. It's an untapped market, 20/30 year old IT people who need to lose weight, something easy for them to do.Lunch, not sure how good that was, certainly a lot better than usual. I went for the "Toad in the Hole" and recon it was about 10 points, went for the slightly more biased options from the food picker (sausages were 7.5 points) but they looked not as much as that I think. Yorkshire was a challenge, I put down 2 potions of Yorkshire, may have had a little less than 2 but better to be safe than sorry. Topped off with lots of free veg (broccoli & carrots). Much better than what I would have normally eaten but didn't feel I missed out on anything (well except the curly chips). Mr Drinkwater came and had a look over my shoulder just then, another disbeliever, he will surcome at the point when I weigh in less than him ..... Posted By Col on Tuesday, April 01, 2003 So I have started, decided to bite the bullet and join weight-watchers. The reasons, well there are a few. I thought it was about time to do something, at some point we may decide to have kids and I want to be healthy and have fun with them. I will no doubt be even more devilishly handsome, drive MeJulie crazy. Robbie & Sarahs wedding is another goal, Julie wants to lose 1 stone by then and it is important to her so I want to help for her and for me. My goal, I hope to get to 15 stone at first, how much is that to lose, well a couple or more stone .....To aid me in my goal I also decided to join the weightwatchers on-line, this is coz it will drive me to do it more I think, I can count meals at work when the menu gets emailed out so I know exactly what to eat when I go over there. It means that I can find interesting meals from the website and also have some IT related extras, kind of a techo-weightloss. You get graphs, profiles ect... everything a true techie loves. When signing up all I could think of was a winners take-away, funny really, you kind of think that is it with regards nice food. Then on the site found some really nice looking meals already counted, also if I fancy a number 40, 17, egg fried rice & crackers I can, but obviously nothing else that day. to be continued ....
